SFC:n foorumilta bongattuja kommentteja Mäksästä koeperiodin ajalta marraskuulta (sopimuksesta ei foorumilla näyttänyt olevan vielä tietoakaan). Lempinimestä väännetään kovasti vitsiä, mutta varautuneen innostuneesti "Kirurgia" ollaan ottamassa vastaan.
His failure at Hearts is a worry. Don't know anything about the Finnish League but I find it hard to imagine that it would be as good as the HAL.
Possibly not, but then his record in the Finnish League is pretty outstanding. If he can get half those goals here he'll be a decent asset.
I signed him on Football Manager about a year ago.
Playing good strikers in front of our midfield the way it currently is is like putting a scarecrow in goals behind the worlds greatest back 4.
Finnish league is possiblty along the lines of the Swiss or the Czech maybe even lesser...HJK has always been at the top of it and is considered the top club in Finland. Just like Australia, Finland producers a few great players and some good, but over all the quality is average. Makela (rough translation, Hill) is quality at that level and with the lack of speed of A-league defenders i would place Juho along the lines of the dirty tard as far as breaking defenses. Better at running in to space if he gets the service.
Either way, if we sign him i am bringing a flag!!!! :P
He seems like a good player... got some pace and thats handy as none of our strikers bar Brosque have good pace. He seems like a real goal scorer meaning that Bruno, Brosque and he can be our first 3 strike options. Hopefully if signed he can translate his form over here. Also as mentioned above good to see us looking at a 27 yr old... rather than a 37 year old
About time we had another chap with a good nickname.
Surgeon ftw.
The "Surgeon" has good pedigree, pace and I think he would do well in our league. His time at Hearts was a little inconclusive due to lack of game time and some of their financial problems at the club but otherwise he has been good. Having 4 strikers to choose from will certainly keep everyone on their toes, but I do agree with the general opinion here we need some more attacking impetus from midfield. Without Carle we seem to lack ideas to open up defenses.
Surgeon is over 6-foot so they're obviously looking for another big goal-scoring presence. I think they're basically looking for someone who will help score when Brosque is gone (and beyond?)
Well he'll only be our surgeon if he can
1) slice through the defence;
2) finish with clinical proficiency;
3) have razor sharp reactions; and
4) a cutting wit.
Well we can all hope can't we
Still think we need a midfielder
And he even comes with a ready made song if someone can be bothered to transpose "Like a Virgin" with appropriate changes of course
Like a surgeon, HEY!, scored in his very first game
Like a surgeon, with his cunning, even cuts through glass
like a surgeon , HEY!, will score in his very next game
like a surgeon, to win us the a-league, he scalpels fast..
and so on..lol!!
The Surgeon - good touch, good movement, good finishing. Low on fitness because he has been out of action for the last month or so, but nothing that a couple of weeks with Dr Craig can't fix. Leaving at the end of this week. I'll probably get another look at him on Wednesday.
Couple of things...
Very hard to tell how he will go until seen in a match situation, but promising. Uses left and right, scores goals and can take a touch when needed. Also scored a very clever chip goal. Here till wed apparently.
I wonder what the surgeons stance on euthanasia is? Maybe he can put Liam Reddys career to sleep?
