If Bruno and Mäkelä click, which I think they will if they get a solid off-season together, then I think we'll see lots of goals. Mäkelä can use his speed and anticipation to get onto Bruno's knock-downs, something everyone else failed to do on a consistent basis last season.
Brosque is a great loss but it may well turn out that Juho and Bruno will put the ball in the net more often than Bridge and Brosque ever could. This squad should make the semis.
Am interested to see how he goes after a proper pre-season. Not that I have high hopes about the Mäkelä/Bruno combination...
I think it could work, from what I saw Mäkelä could move around abit and had decent positioning without being the fastest player ever. Triangle play between him Carle & Bruno could be deadly if they got it right.

Different players. You'd be an idiot to suggest he's a better player than Bruno on the limited views you've seen of him.
I'm hoping Mäkelä keeps Bruno honest - Big Bruno needs to sustain the work rate of his first matches and figure out Aus referees. Mäkelä looked good for a new player without a pre-season. But I agree he didn't show blinding pace and I think he and Bruno are too similar.
I'm hoping Sydney sign a faster striker (or Harry Kewell) to supplement the Bruno/Juho show. Or just play Petratos there. It would be good if this player could also play on the wing (like Harry Kewell) because we have no width whatsoever... but then again, Lavicka never plays wingers anyway.
Harry Kewell on tosiaan yhdistetty muutaman muun A-League-jengin ohella myös Sydneyyn, mutta ilmeisesti (ja ei yllättäen) palkkatarjoukset eivät ole olleet riittäviä eikä miestä taideta näillä näkymin Australiassa ensi kaudella nähdä. Bruno Cazarine tuntuu monen mielestä olevan selkeä ykköshyökkääjä myös ensi kaudella, Mäkelän ja Mark Bridgen kilpaillessa kakkoskärjen paikasta. Jonkun kirjoittajan mukaan Sydneyn pelityyli tukee huonosti Mäkelän vahvuuksia, sillä tilanteko ja hyvät juoksut ovat tietenkin turhia, jos ei ole mitään minne juosta.
Kausi alkaa vasta lokakuussa, mutta pre-season starttailee jo kuukauden sisällä ensimmäisten harjoitusotteluiden muodossa.
