Meite signs upDoncaster Rovers are pleased to announce the signing, subject to international clearance, of Ivory Coast international Abdoulaye Meite.
The vastly experienced World Cup player has played at the highest level with Bolton, West Brom and Olympique de Marseille. Abdoulaye has signed until the end of the season.
Centre-half Meite has played 48 times for his country including the World Cup Finals and will add to the defensive armoury ahead of crucial games coming up. French born Abdoulaye played last season with FC Honka in the Finnish Veikkausliiga but has been at Rovers for a few months.
He has played over 250 top level club games and played in the 2004 UEFA Cup Final for Marseille before joing Bolton Wanderers. He played against Rovers for Bolton in the first ever FA Cup match at Keepmoat Stadium in 2007.
On the new arrival manager Paul Dickov said: “He’s such an experienced defender and played a lot of games at a high level with Marseille in France, Bolton, West Brom and we are probably missing that little bit of experience at the minute and Abdoulaye will definitely bring that.”
