Siirtorintamalla on ehtinyt lomailun aikana tapahtua, joten tässä pieni kooste hankituista pelaajista ja avausviestin pelaajalista on myös nyt ajan tasalla.

Useita ison palkkapussin omaavia ollaan ulostamassa paraikaa ja samaanaikaan uusia pelaajia ollaan aktiivisesti naaraamassa sisään. Lähtökohtaisesti suurin mielenkiinto toistaiseksi kohdistuu herroihin McLaughlin ja McGeouch, jotka kuuluivat viime vuonna molemmat Skotlannin liigan tähdistöön.

Paperilla varmasti tulee olemaan tälle tasolle enemmän kuin pätevä joukkue, mutta miten Ross tämän ryhmän roolittaa ja miten nopeasti saa suuren vaihtuvuuden ringin hiottua pelitapansa alla, onkin toinen juttu. Khazri eilen pihalle ja kohtuullinen korvaus siitä.

Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of experienced defender Glenn Loovens

The Dutchman has signed on a free transfer after leaving Sheffield Wednesday following the end of the 2017-18 season, signing a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

Jack Ross’ seventh summer signing, Loovens joins Tom Flanagan, Chris Maguire, Jon McLaughlin, Alim Ozturk, Reece James and Dylan McGeouch on Wearside.

The 34-year-old started his career with Feyenoord, progressing through the ranks alongside the likes of Robin van Persie before breaking into the first team in 2001.

After loan spells with Excelsior and De Graafschap, his first taste of English football came in 2005 when he joined Cardiff City on loan ahead the 2005-06 season.

One year later he signed a permanent deal with the Bluebirds and he went on to make over 100 appearances for the Welsh side, while also playing a key role in their memorable run to the 2008 FA Cup final.

Loovens spent four seasons at Celtic between 2008 and 2012, winning the Scottish Premier League, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup during his time north of the border.

After a spell with Real Zaragoza he returned to England in 2013, signing for Sheffield Wednesday where he would go on to make 150 appearances and become club captain.

The Dutchman has also represented his country at senior level, earning two caps.

Sunderland AFC has completed the signing of Jerome Sinclair

Joining from Watford on a season-loan, the 21-year-old striker becomes Jack Ross’ eighth summer signing.

Speaking about his arrival, the Sunderland manager said: ““We need more players in the forward areas and Jerome is somebody who fits into that bracket, as he can play in multiple positions across the front line.

“I’m pleased to get him in and he’s at a stage in his career where he needs to play games, so he’s hungry to prove himself and he’s got a big opportunity here to do that.”

Born in Birmingham, Sinclair started his career with West Bromwich Albion before moving to Liverpool.

He rose through the ranks at Melwood before making his first-team debut at 16, as he became the youngest player to represent the Reds in a competitive game.

After a brief spell on loan at Wigan Athletic in 2015, Sinclair returned to Anfield and made his Premier League debut on 10 May in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

His first senior goal followed on 8 January 2016, as he found the net in an FA Cup tie with Exeter City.

In May 2016, the striker signed a five-year deal with Watford and has gone on to make nine Premier League appearances for the Hornets, whilst also spending time on loan with Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship

Sinclair has also turned out for England at under-16 and under-17 level.

Sunderland AFC would like to extend its sincere thanks to Watford for the cooperation and support they have shown in making the loan deal happen.

Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of Jack Baldwin

Signing from Sky Bet League One side Peterborough United, the defender has penned a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

The 25-year-old will further bolster Jack Ross’ backline, joining fellow defensive recruits Tom Flanagan, Alim Ozturk, Reece James and Glenn Loovens on Wearside.

Baldwin has a wealth of Football League experience and he’s also played in the north east, having turned out for Hartlepool United prior to a move to Peterborough in 2014.

Speaking about his arrival, the Sunderland manager said: “Everybody knew we were looking to strengthen again in this area of the pitch and now we’re comfortable with where we’re at in terms of central defensive options.

“Jack is proven in this league and he’s at a good age with his best years ahead of him, and he has a hunger to improve and do well.”

He added: “He sees this as a big opportunity and has the core attributes we have been looking for.”

The defender made his Football League debut in 2011 against Colchester United, regularly featuring for Pools as they clinched a 13th-place finish in the third tier.

After making over 80 appearances for the north-east club, Baldwin moved to London Road in January 2014 for an initial fee of £500,000.

The defender has gone to make 116 appearances for Peterborough, captaining the club throughout the 2017-18 season, during which he made 43 appearances in all competitions.

Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of Luke O’Nien

The midfielder has joined the Lads from Wycombe Wanderers for an undisclosed fee, penning a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

O’Nien started his career with Watford before moving to Wycombe in July 2015.

And the 23-year-old, who is Jack Ross’ tenth signing of the window, has flourished since moving to Adams Park.

He played a key role in the Chairboys’ promotion from Sky Bet League Two last season, making over 100 appearances for the club during a three-year spell.

Speaking about the move, O’Nien said: “It’s a huge honour because it’s such a big club.

“The last few days have been pretty manic for me and it’s all happened so fast, but I’m delighted to be here, and I can’t thank the club enough for giving me the opportunity.

“The direction of the club is only going to be up, and I’m going to do everything I can to help get the club to back where it belongs.”

Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of Charlie Wyke

The 25-year-old striker joins from Bradford City ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, and becomes Jack Ross’ eleventh summer recruit.

Born in Middlesbrough, Wyke is one of Sky Bet League One’s most prolific strikers, having bagged 23 goals and 13 assists in 62 appearances for the Bantams.

16 of those came last season as the club finished 11th in the third tier, but his game is about far more than goals and his all-round play makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Speaking about the move, Wyke admitted he can’t wait to get started: “I’m delighted to get it over the line so that I can concentrate on my football again.

“It’s a massive club, and coming from the north east, I know exactly how much it means to people.

“The one thing that everybody wants here is promotion, so we have to get that and win as many games as we can.

“I can’t wait to get started.”

Wyke started his career at the Riverside Stadium, progressing through the ranks and scoring regularly at every level before earning a professional contract.

The striker continued his development with loan spells at Kettering Town, Hartlepool United and AFC Wimbledon, with a permanent move to Carlisle United coming to fruition in 2015.

He notched 39 times in 89 appearances during an 18-month spell at Brunton Park, and he’s continued his fine form throughout his time at Valley Parade.

Kenilworth Roadilta piste mukaan ja kolmeenkin hyvät saumat, mutta nyt meni näin.

Kokoonpanosta edelleen sivussa tärkeät McGeady, McGeouch, Sinclair ja Wyke. Näille herroille olisi todellakin käyttöä. Lainamarkkinoilta haetaan vielä yhtä hyökkääjää sparraamaan Wykea ja Majaa. JR:n sanojen mukaan haetaan enemmänkin nuorta, innokasta tekijää, kuin kokenutta kehäkettua.

Alun koomailun jälkeen hyvä ote ottelusta ja todella tehokas viimeinen kolmannes. Gillingham pääsi myös hyville tonteille ja toisella puoliajalla pieniä jaksoja punavalkoiset jopa purjeessa. Vaikka tulos on selvä, niin tästä pystyy huomattavasti vielä parantamaankin. Majan tehot kyllä ilahduttavat ja tähän hyökkäykseen kun lisätään vielä klesana olevat Wyke, Watmore, Sinclair ja McGeady, niin alkaa olemaan suht kova kilpaiulu pelipaikoista.

Erityimaininta jälleen punavalkoiselle armeijalle (2200), joka heitti keskiviikkoiltana kevyen 640 mailin iltalenkin.
