Onko tietoa milloin elland roadin laajennus on tarkoitus tehdä?

Eikös tämäkin riippunut siitä noustaanko vai ei, joten eiköhän tästäkin kuulla pian. Kapasiteetti 50 tuhanteen ja uusi harjoituskeskus olisi tulossa. Tämä voi ehkä hillitä tulevan siirtoikkunan suurempia törsäyksiä, jos rahaa halutaan mieluummin laittaa tähän projektiin.

Ja ensimmäinen ”pre season” matsi heti tänään klo 16 Derbyä vastaan.
Asialla enimmäkseen junnut ja toivottavasti avauksessa nähdään Gotts, McCalmont, Stevens, Shackleton, Poveda ja muita vähiten krapulassa olevia. Olisihan se hienoa, jos junnut pyörittelisivät voiton Rooneysta, mutta tämä on jo valmistautumista ensi kauteen.

Ja tietysti vielä vasen pakki Leif Davis, joka on saanut vasta 12min tällä kaudella plus pari cup-matsia. Liverpool kuulemma kiinnostunut hänestä, mutta kaikenlaista muutakin hömppää liikkeellä.

Kinnear sanoi haastattelussa, että nousu valioliigaan nostaa tv-tulot nykyisestä 2m£ yli 100m£ puntaan, melkoinen gäppi sarjojen välillä. Lisäksi hän ennusteli paitamyynnin noin 10-kertaistuvan ja olevan top kolmanneksessa. Pääsylippujen hinnat pysyvät tämän kauden tasolla, koska fanit ovat sen ansainneet (ja sitten kun fanit ylipäätään pääsevät takaisin stadikoille) ja sille helvetin iso peukku. Sponsoridiilit tulevat tietysti olemaan muhkeampia, mutta sopimuksia asiasta ei ole. Phil Hayn mukaan Qatar Airways ei ole tulossa sponsoriksi ensi kaudella.

Siirtopuolelta ei muuta kuin Ben Whiten + Brightonin kanssa neuvotellaan, mutta isommatkin seurat ovat kiinnostuneita - ainoa pieni etulyöntiasema Leedsillä on siinä, että peliaika olisi taattu ja rutkasti luvassa. Muutoin etsitään Championshipin parempia pelureita, joita olisi tarjolla, mutta nimiä ei mainittu Kinnearin haastattelussa.

Tässä vielä jotain Bielsan jatkosta Leedsissä eli neuvottelut hänen kanssaan aloitetaan maanantaina, sori pitkä viesti:

It is the end of a story, but one which lacked a happy ending. Although, in the voice of Russell Crowe,  the message is still [only] one of potential, it brings confidence. “Bielsa has renewed and returned hope and pride to the club and to the city.
Owners, managers, players and fans have become united again. The sleeping giant has woken up, and the revolution has only just begun.”
 
A year later, it looks different. Bielsa has broken his mould, just for a moment. He hugs every one of his footballers, he delivers praise in a secretive English which perfectly matches his demonstration of a fresh and genuine affection [for his team]. With the goal achieved, his steely shield is [momentarily] broken. The ending now, is a happy one. But as Russell Crowe concludes at the end of “take us home”, it is possible that the revolution has only just begun.
 
To work out the future of Bielsa at Leeds it is worth looking back and reviewing the pivotal moments which led the Argentine to take decisions.
 
The first happened in a Buenos Aires hotel where Kinnear (CEO) and Orta (Sporting Director) met with Bielsa and asked him to be the club’s new head coach.
In England, Radrizanni had already approved this ‘journey of persuasion’  – (he [Radz] is the figure who in Argentina would be considered president of the club and in other places and company structures is called the owner).
 
Radrizanni arrived in 2017 to an institution sunken by a financial crisis and held back by sporting punishments - they were not a team then that aspired to be among the best in the Premier League. His mission was to revive the history of a club which had fallen to the third tier of English football.
A 46 year-old Italian businessman, Radz is worth $550 million. But he is not the typical business magnate who develops his business in other areas and sees football as nothing more than a side hustle.
 
His role is far more active than that - and his money is tied up entirely with sport. He is the founder of Eleven Sports, a sports channel headquartered in the UK which won the rights to broadcast La Liga, Serie A, MLS and major golf tournaments, among other things.
 
“If we go up, we’re all going to Las Vegas. I promised them. The whole team will go” said the Italian a year ago. Now, he’ll have to deliver on this promise.
 
But before he will have to sit down to negotiate with Bielsa.
 
“I wanted him because we needed a leader that could change the culture of the club and he managed it in just one year. But he will have to change, rest a bit and reduce his stress levels” said the owner when he criticised El Loco for sending spies to Leeds’ opponents. But he will have to ‘rest a bit’ and Bielsa don’t work well in the same sentence.
 
That episode in which the man from Rosario did not back down and defended his idea of spying on the training sessions of his future opponents marked a critical moment and it could have been the end of his time at Leeds.  “It depends on whether he wants to say, but it also depends on us” said Radz when at the end of last season, his objective of promotion had slipped away and some of the argentine's methods were beginning to be doubted by the club’s owner.
 
Although he did admit: “I think that we deserve another chance, we can’t leave this half done”
 
The scene will now repeat itself. Radz, Kinnear and Orta will try and renew Bielsa’s contract so that he will be the club’s manager in the Premier League.
Marcelo is mysterious said Kinnear before last year’s one-year extension was confirmed. “I would know the intentions of any other coach but not Marcelo, because he was extremely focused on the season and he never wanted to talk about the future”.
 
But Orta is the one who understands Bielsa best. His footballing (as opposed to business) side overcomes any hierarchies. The Spaniard had wanted to take Bielsa to Sevilla where he worked as assistant to Monchi between 2006 and 2013 as well as to Zenit. In 2017 he landed in Leeds and it was the first and most significant decision that Radz took.
 
In an informal chat in his car, the Leeds owner asked Orta which coach he would get if he had all the money in the world. “Bielsa”. And there, in that car he started to plan the journey to Buenos Aires. While Kinear and Radz were unsure whether Bielsa would continue after last year’s story, Orta never had doubts. He trusted completely in his ideas and his methods. He is the cleverest man that I know, and I’m not only talking about football”
 
The face of Radz changes with the ebbs and flows of each game. He is one of the central stories in Take Us Home – the Amazon documentary which he invited to do a second season, now with the happy ending of promotion to the premier league. On screen [in the documentary], Radz suffers, he is disappointed, and it seems he doesn’t know how to manage a situation which is beyond his control when the team gets bogged down and promotion escapes them. But even though he clearly comes across a lot more confident when it comes to business –the man whose signature he needs remains mysterious.
 
It’s been a while since I’ve spoken with him said Rafael Bielsa this week - he hasn’t said a word to me. But it seems to me the question is the other way around. “How can he not renew, if they are champions?”. Marcelo likes an identity and he takes into account the facilities [of a club] in order to develop his projects. I haven’t been there but I read that in the city he is like a rock star. He is loved, it’s a club which has done it [adapted], and his team have managed it. In the Premiership it is better to get there with a team where you know every player. It is going to be very difficult to say no” added his brother, in an attempt to clarify the future of El Loco.
 
The rock star, what a paradox, is used to being more comfortable on the side lines than being the centre [of attention]. It jars with the hype that he lives as we have seen that he does. He does everything in his joggers and has a modest and somewhat mundane style. How will he feel now that he is at the top of the wave? This is a new question that only Bielsa will be able to answer.
 
The team will get 214 million dollars more in TV rights because of their promotion to the top division. And it has approved more than 80 million dollars for contract negotiations in the close season. Some sources in the media are speculating that there are 5 argentines in view: Lucas (River Plate), Juan Foyth (Spurs), Matias Zaracho (Racing), Thiago Almada (Velez Sarsfield) and Nicolas Gonazales (Stuttgart) that can strengthen Bielsa’s team.
 
When Kinnear was asked about the future of the team – he preferred to enjoy the moment - “There are many people with headaches; including me. Last night we enjoyed ourselves a lot”. Orta, who next week, will have a first meeting with Bielsa to define what is coming, added that the ambition of the club “has not ended with promotion” and he is aiming to keep growing. With El Loco at the helm, obviously.

Nämä viimeiset pelit nousun varmistumisen jälkeen olivat kyllä hienoja näytöksiä Bielsan ja pelaajien ammattiasenteesta. Olisi ollut helppoa vain laittaa junnut kentälle ja pelata pelit alta pois, mutta joukkue ei antanut vastustajille palaakaan. Eilinen taas todisti, että White pitää saada signattua pysyvästi. Maksoi mitä maksoi. On niin dominoiva hahmo ja on vielä kehittymisen varaa. Tuolla Ayling-Cooper-White-Dallas linjalla voisi lähteä hyvillä mielin ensi kauteen.

Huhut kertovat, että ehkä jo tänään julkaistaan Meslierin jatko ja nähdään uusi Adidaksen pelipaita.
