VÄLILÄ UNSTOPPABLE - RP-67 ROCKSOLIDTuukka Välilä brace sealed all 6 points from the first two matches as the Seablues started their futsal 3rd division campaign.
Both teams playing against RP-67 were from Raisio, the first Sporting Club Raisio, a team of promising young lads beaten in a friendly match earlier this season, and the other one the familiar RaiTeePee, including several ex-Seablues players.
Attackers Salama and Toni Aaltonen joined the attacking lineup Ben-McTavish and Pere-Välilä with the usual Fröberg,Aaltonen,Turta,Kankaanpää,Mäki on the defence, while Mikola-Wilman were included in the action only through the scoreboard-buttons.
The Seablues were aggressive from the beginning, the ladstriker McTavish providing a constant threat with his massive presence. Still, after coming few times close, Seablues broke the deadlock after a nice combination including the goalkeeper Koppanen and Ville Pere setting up Tuukka Välilä who struck a fine volley to the net and giving Seablues a deserved lead. After the goal the game was flowing nicely from side to side with both goalkeepers showing some good reactions. Especially the Seablues captain Thomas Fröberg showed some flair letting it fly few times with the weaker left foot. But when two minutes were left of the first period was
SCR put Rusko under pressure on the second half, but Välilä was simply too hot for the inexperienced defence adding another for his tally with a clinical canadian-style finish. Seablues were on target soon again through Ville Peres whos shot was deflected to the goal, leaving goalkeeper without a chance. On the dying minutes of the second half Pete McTavish surprised the goalkeeper with a nice shot from a tight angle making it 5-2 for the home team.
RaiTeePee got a dream start for their match against the Seablues after some lazy defending by the Seablues and the unlucky Fröberg finally rallying the ball in to his own net. RaiTeePee were beaten about 11-2 by SCR and probably the quick goal made Seablues to wake up for the reality; there is no such thing as an easy match. Luckily the goal was soon abandoned with the striking partners Wilkman-Mikola combining in the danger area, leaving Mikola an easy task to score behind the deputy-goalie Antti Laine who was left alone way too often as the Seablues shifted a few gears up to roam over the visitors. After few more goals were Seablues in control and shifted down to the cruise control and entertaining the crowd with few tricks, some smooth passing and missing the goalchances. Still the final score was at least 13-2 for the Seablues including amazing 8 goals scored by so-called defenders.
The saturday was good and the Seablues were playing on their own level, which has won them quite a few new fans, including the manager of the upper-division team Goose Park Rangers, that wanted to have a friendly match with the ever-winning Seablues. Seablues were happy to say no as their march on the futsal-cup probably continues next weekend with Olarin Kiksi travelling from Espoo to challenge Seablues for the place in the last 16. Due the small-size of the pitch at the Seablues homevenue Ruskotalo the game was moved to Peltola, where teams meet next saturday-morning.
Tuukka Välilä - simply irresistible today.
Thomas Fröberg - soul of the game as always.
Mikko Kankaanpää - the tentacles were out!
