Aloitetaan jo uusi topicci tässä vaiheessa kun tiedetään jo joitain pelaajia joilla on sopimus. Eli kaudella 2009 liigassa kävi kentällä 74 eri pelaajaa, toiset pelasivat enemmän, toiset vähemmän. Viime vuoden pelaajat näet tästä.

I don't understand why nationality would be a defining feature here. Veikkausliiga clubs should be looking to sign young, hungry players that might have a resale value, regardless of where they come from, and coach them so that they improve and develop. That's why Inter Turku are good, RoPS less so, but focusing on the number rather than the strategy is pretty dumb.

Kyllä minua ainakin kyrsii tuollainen ulkomaalaisten täysin turha hankkiminen. Ei siinä mitään että niitä on pari kolme mutta että kentällä kirmaa joku Itä-Euroopan/Afrikan Ö-luokan tähdistö on jo vähän liikaa. Yritysmaailmassa puhutaan yhteiskuntavastuusta niin mielestäni Veikkausliigassa voitaisiin puhua joukkueiden vastuusta suomifutikselle.

37 is actually too much for our budgets. We don't have enough money to get here much more than 10 players who are actually better than Finns. The good or even the average guys are just too expensive. Finns/local guys can study (or work) and/or live with their parents and hence we get better and cheaper players... VPS and Honka are good examples of teams that have only 1-2 foreigners and still survive better than their opponents, who are getting/buying full load of shit from abroad.
 
Last season the better placed teams had (in average) less foreigners in squad than teams in the bottom half of the league. Probably 2-3 good quality foreigners per team would be a good and affordable amount (-> total 25-35 in the league). More Wayne Browns here, please .

Same for this basically. But we don't have enough resources for scouting. If we get here a young player, who developes and can be sold, it's good luck, nothing else. Inter has started to play well after they've got their youth system working (Ojala, Aho, Paajanen, Furuholm, Kauko, Mäkitalo...), they never got it right when they only bought players. But thanks to Dragtsma's connections/scouting skills they found Hooiveld and Chatto (but couldn't replace them after they left).

You're not very familiar with our scouting skills or resources. We are doing much better this way.

If it's the latter, restricting your recruitment to Finns (who underperform as footballers in international comparison, as Kuper and Szymanski's recent book argued), when part of a 500m-strong labour market,is really stupid.

We are doing much better with our (almost) all-Finnish team. In the history we have used a lot of foreigners and almost always we have payed money for nothing. And we don't have enough money to compete with other European teams for the guys, who could really strengthen our squad.

Last season, we started badly because of Kärde's weird tactics. But during the last 20 games (without Kärde), we got more points than TamU, Inter, Haka... In fact, only HJK, Honka and TPS got more points than us during the last 77% of the season. We would never have done so well, if we had wasted our money on the shit, that we always get from abroad.

IFK is the only good example of a team, that playes well with a non-so-Finnish team. But most of their guys come from Sweden (Swedish guys and Dujilo, Gashi..). They have scouting skills and resources and connections, that most of the other teams don't have.

I've got nothing against good quality guys like Bah, Brown, Agolli and few others, but wasting money on shit is the last thing we should do here. And that's what we are usually doing here in Finland, when talking about players from abroad. We have expensive crappy players in the squad and our talented youngsters sit on a bench.

Of course we want good quality professional league. But we don't have money for that, and we don't have scouting skills and resources so that we could get talented youngsters here. We have to do all the work as well as we can, but we have no shortcuts for the glory.

I'm not at all sure that Finnish players offer any kind of value for money. If your scouting is shit then your scouting is shit, it doesn't magically improve because the player is from nowheremäki, Karelia.

Sinänsä TampereOwlin kanssa samaa mieltä, että Veikkausliigan tasoa kehitettäisiin juuri laadukkailla ulkomaalaisvahvistuksilla. Ongelmana on vaan juuri yhteyksien ja skouttauksen puute. Pienelläkin työllä voi löytää hyviä vahvistuksia. Chris James oli ehkä tällainen löytö Wissiltä, vaikka viettikin sitten suurimman osan ajastaan täällä saikulla.
