Frank Rijkaard's agent Maas Reinier confirmed that his client is considering a shock return to Ajax, as a player. Earlier today, dutch newspaper de Telegraaf reported that Rijkaard could be poised to revive his career as a player, but only if enough of the 1995 European Cup winning squad returns. Nwankwo Kanu and Edgar Davids are likely to complete their transfers to Ajax in the coming days according to Telegraaf, but Reinier feels that it would take more than just those two for Rijkaard to make a return to the Ajax midfield.
"There is a lot of rumours circulating about who is and who isn't going to Ajax and nothing has been decided yet", Reinier told in his press release, "but i can assure you that my client[Rijkaard] is completely serious about a possible return. He has been training hard with Barcelona during practice, and his age(44) is not a problem. Frank is an intelligent player and because of his massive experience and skill, he can compensate for some physical deficiencies"
At least six players, including Rijkaard, Davids, Kanu, Edwin van der Sar, Jari Litmanen and Patrick Kluivert of the European Cup winning squad have been linked to make the move back to Amsterdam.
