Ilmeisesti vielä Mike Farnan yrittää viime minuuteilla koittaa raapia kilpailevaa tarjousta kasaan nykyisille omistajille, mutta taitaa olla liian myöhäistä. Päivitystä kuukauden takaiseen: Cellinoa ei ole vieläkään hyväksytty uudeksi tuolimieheksi, Liiga ilmeisesti pitää palaveria taas huomenna asiasta. Suurin kynnyskysymys taitaa tällä hetkellä olla veronkiertosyytös, jonka Cellino on saanut jostain hämäräperäisestä huvijahtikaupasta Cellinon lakimies on luottavaisin mielin ja uskoo että syytteet hylätään ja Liiga hyväksyy take-overin.

Kentällä Leeds ottaa turpaan oikealta ja vasemmalta (kaksi edellistä peliä turpiin ensiksi Boltonia 1-5 ja sitten Readingia vastaan 2-4), McDermottin palli heiluu, eikä putoaminenkaan ole vielä täysin poissuljettu vaihtoehto joukkueelle, joka ennen joulua tähtäili jopa suoraa nousua.

Toivon kovasti ettei päätöksiä McDermottin suhteen tehdä ennen kuin omistajakuviot on vihdoinkin saatu setvittyä. Ei tuolla kai ole kenenkään helppo suorittaa kun kokoajan on takaraivossa pelko taikauskoisesta ja sangen hämärältä vaikuttavasta tulevasta työnantajasta. Ehkä ensi kauden alku voitaisiin ainakin kahtella nykyisen managerin alaisuudessa, pliide?

Cellino sitten todettiin syylliseksi veronkiertoon ja määrättiin 600 000 €ohin sakkoihin tuossa huvijahtijupakassaan. Aikoo toki valittaa päätöksestä, mutta tuskinpa Football League kovinkaan äkkiä hyväksyy tuota ostoyritystä, ainakaan jos meinaavat laatimiaan sääntöjä noudattaa:

Football League rules state that individuals are prohibited from becoming owners and directors of any of its member clubs if they have “unspent convictions for offences of dishonesty, corruption, perverting the course of justice, serious breaches of the Companies Act or conspiracy to commit any of those offences”.

The regulations add: “This applies regardless of the country in which the crime occurred, or the date of the offence.”

Toisaalta:

A Football League statement read: “The Football League has noted the outcome of the court hearing earlier (on Tuesday) regarding Massimo Cellino.

“We are engaged in an ongoing dialogue with his legal representatives in this country and cannot comment further at this time.”

Ilmeisesti pelkästään seuran toimihenkilöille on maksettu liksat tänään, kun taas pelaajat ovat suostuneet erilaisiin järjestelyihin, joissa osa palkasta maksetaan joko tänään tai ensi viikon aikana. Cellino authorised the sacking of McDermott - via a phone call from solicitor Chris Farnell - amid the chaotic events of January 31, only for the former Reading chief to be subsequently reinstated less than 24 hours later following a dramatic club U-turn, with the Italian not having the authority to do so.

Cellino went onto claim he did not dismiss McDermott.

Relations between the pair have significantly improved since, with Cellino texting McDermott once he was told that his appeal about the Football League’s decision to block his takeover had been successful on Saturday.

McDermott publicly backed Cellino’s takeover attempts last month and has spoken about not having any problem working with the Italian, who he has described as a ‘football man.’

The United boss says he took Sunday reports suggesting that Cellino felt he should have stepped down as manager following Leeds’ shocking recent run with a pinch of salt, with the pair likely to sit down later this week.

McDermott said: “As a new owner, you always sit down with a manager and it will become very clear.

“I think the proof of the pudding will be in time and seeing what happens. I think the most important thing is that it’s an exciting time now. We have an owner where the club is going to be solvent and the players will be paid and we can move forward knowing we have a clear situation.

“He will have a plan and want to do right by Leeds United, which is really important. There is no doubt we are going in the same direction because we both want to get Leeds United promoted. We have both got the same ambition and aim for the club.”

Benito Carbone on palkattu Leedsiin jonkinlaiseksi nuorisojoukkueiden valmentajaksi, mutta hänet on Cellino ilmeisesti sulkenut pois managerin pestiä tavoittelevien joukosta.

‘He told some of the players that he felt they were paid too much which obviously didn’t go down well at all.

‘He didn’t even get round to meeting all of the staff.’

Cellino told Sky Sports: “I am meeting three British coaches for talks (tomorrow) and want to get someone in place soon.

“I have always said I wanted a British coach. I am a man of my word and that is still the case.

“I want someone to take care of the preparation of the team, the training, the tactics, not the recruitment or the contracts – which I will take care of. The job is a coach, not a manager, which is an important difference.”
