Päivän toinen postiviinen asia sen lisäksi, että tänään pelataan veikkausliigaa :ylos:

Paulie

Positiivista, ettei Saarelma pelaa tänään Veikkausliigassa  :ylos: ;D

Pixie

Negatiivista on taas se, ettei foorumin vaihdosta huolimatta taso noussut  :(

Young Finnish players coming of age.
By Edmundo - June 12 2006

Finland don't have any outstanding young players at the moment, but some very good ones. Alexei Eremenko's (8 goals in the last WC qualifiers) younger brother Roman (Udinese) is a cracking prospect. Very skillful playmaker, who has been on the edge of Udinese's first team, despite his age (18).

There is another pretty decent Finn at Udinese as well: Jarkko Hurme, an attacking full back, whose tackles are world widely recognized. Third Finn, Jani Virtanen will join the Udinese academy in July. Tomi "Who the f*ck?" Saarelma, 16, is supposedly the most skillful player in the Chelsea academy (according to their youth coach), but will have to develop his physique in order to fulfill his potential.

Niklas Moisander was tipped to be the next real thing, when he moved to Ajax a few years ago, but a serious injury prevented that from happening. He's now moved on to Zwolle to kick-start his career. Jan Everse has described him as the "Next Frank de Boer".

From the Finnish league I must mention Ville Taulo, mr versatility himself and a full international, who can play any given position... I have also played with him at my school's team aged 11. Eero Korte is another traditional playmaker in the making. Mika Ääritalo played for Aston Villa's youth setup for a while, but has returned to Finland to set the league alight with his performances on the left wing. The same story with Tomi Petrescu, who actually managed to get a game at Leicester first team aged 16.

My personal favourite is Kasper Hämäläinen, who was one of the best players I had ever seen in the Finnish league, when he first appeared on the scene a couple of years ago. Sadly he broke his leg twice after that and is only now slowly returning to action. I'm hoping he'll find that old spark and will go on to magnificent achievements. He's comfortable on either flank. HJK's Perparim Hetemaj is wanted by AEK, and featured on the front page of several Greek newspapers, when their interest was revealed, which is unheard of, when we're talking about a Finnish player.

Markus Halsti and Joona Toivio of the same club will be the future central defence pairing for the national team. 20-year-old Werder Bremen -reject Hermanni Vuorinen currently tops the goalscoring charts in the Finnish league, while slowly developed Roni Porokara just made his debut for the national team.

En tiä, mut pääs ainakin IS Brittifutikseen  :o ::)

Boris Godunov

Seventeen year old Finnish winger Tomi Saarelma (pictured), in his second year at the club, came off the bench to score just his second ever goal.

It was a good one too, according to manager Ruud Kaiser. He had given Saarelma his chance with 20 minutes remaining, and seven minutes later he took it.

"There was a good dribble from Miroslav Stoch on the right side, he came inside into the box and shot, and the goalkeeper saved but got no grip. Tomi came in and had a little touch with his right foot to his left, and then a little touch in.

"The first touch was an excellent one because if he shot immediately he would have hit the goalkeeper. It was a lovely moment from Tomi." :ylos: :ylos: :ylos:
