It seems that Eremenko's career in the RPL was ruined by the coronavirus. After an illness, he can no longer play at the same level
A unique footballer leaves Russia.
Wednesday 24 February 2021 15:30
Roman Eremenko leaves Rostov. That something was wrong with the footballer, it became clear in his last match for the team - in the Cup of Russia against Akhmat. Eremenko started the game at the base, but was replaced already in the 39th minute of the match. Roman ran briskly to the edge of the field, nodded to Karpin several times and went to the booth.
The very next day, Nobel Arustamyan charged the insider that Eremenko and Rostov were close to terminating the contract by mutual agreement of the parties. According to Sport24, Roman asked to be released for family reasons. As Igor Rabiner later reported, Eremenko told Rostov that he could not handle the required amount of work. The player tried to get in shape at the training camp, but it did not work out, the coronavirus transferred in the summer affected. Eremenko has no conflict with Karpin. Here is what Eremenko himself said after the official confirmation:
“I would like to immediately stop rumors and speculation about the reason for the termination of the contract. When signing the contract, we had an agreement with the president of the club, Artashes Vladimirovich Harutyunyants, on the possibilities of early termination of the labor agreement by mutual agreement for several reasons, one of the reasons was “for family reasons”.
The decision did not come spontaneously, and I am very grateful to the club for their understanding. For me, family is above all, so I am returning to Finland. I want to thank FC Rostov for the interest shown to me, the club management and the coaching staff for their trust. Thanks to teammates, medical and support staff, base staff. We went through a lot together, and it will stay with me forever. I would also like to thank the fans of FC Rostov for their crazy support and dedication to the team. "
I have good and kind relations with the Eremenko family, but Roma made his choice, and I could not help but meet him. I wish the Eremenko family good luck and success, family above all
Artashes Harutyunyants, President of Rostov
Eremenko stopped pulling?
In "Rostov" indicate that Eremenko is leaving the club for family reasons. However, Roman's poor form after his illness and his replacement in the first half without visible confirmation and breaking the contract two days later hint that the reason for Emerenko's departure may indeed be that he does not pull the pace of matches. Even with commands from the bottom of the table.
This can be seen in the time that Eremenko spends on the field. Last season, before his illness, he played full matches in 17 matches out of 17. After an illness, he came on as a substitute twice (for 20 and 26 minutes), and this season the RPL played only 3 matches out of 16. It is interesting that in terms of 90 minutes this season Eremenko gives even more running work than in the past - 10.6 km per game this season and 10.5 in the past. But this is due to two reasons.
Spare effect. When leaving for a replacement, it is easier to complete the running volume per unit of time, since you understand that you need to run for 20-30 minutes, not 90. Therefore, you save less energy. Given the age of Roman (he will turn 34 in March), this is especially important.
Even when Eremenko started at the start, he knew that he was unlikely to spend all 90 minutes on the field. And during this time he could afford to run at a higher pace.
If we compare Eremenko's statistics in the matches of this and last season, in which he ran 90 minutes, then the numbers will be identical. So, in 15 RPL games in the 2019/20 season, in which Eremenko ran from whistle to whistle, he only ran less than 11 km three times, and then not much. It was the same this season - in the matches with Akhmat and Ufa, in which he was on the field for all 90 minutes, he also ran 11 km per game, in the game with CSKA - 10.8.
These numbers are very arbitrary, since visually Eremenko sags in the game without the ball and does not always run up in pressure, breaking the entire structure of Karpin's team. But a certain conclusion can be made: Eremenko is capable of giving the same amount of running work in individual matches as before, the question is that he can no longer do this from week to week .
They hint at Eremenko's problems with physics after suffering a coronavirus and the words of his mother, Nelly. Here's what she said in July: “Roman started training too early, he was tired. He had to miss another two weeks. Now he has been studying for five days. When he fell ill, he had a fever, he lost his taste, smell, it was hard for him to breathe. There was no hospitalization, but for about a month he was isolated in a hotel with the team. "
Plus, the fans recognized Eremenko as the player of the month in February and March, right before the coronavirus pause in the championship. After the season resumed, it was a completely different player. This was especially clearly seen in the cup game against Akhmat: Eremenko was constantly in a half-position, did not have time to close the pressure traps, opened poorly and moved very little. A case in point: the zone practicing by Eremenko Matias Normann, who started from a position of 5 meters behind Roman's back. This is the 15th minute of the match.

Here Eremenko did not manage to reach his zone in order to win the horse fight against the not very tall Melkadze. In a few seconds "Akhmat" will earn a penalty kick from which they will score the winning goal.

27th minute - Eremenko does not return to defense and is just trying to catch his breath, resting his hands on his knees.

The last straw was the high-speed race of Eremenko and Berisha - the Kosovar left the Rostov midfielder as a standing one, right in front of Valery Karpin. This was the last straw: a few minutes later, the coach removed Roman from the game.
It is a pity that the RPL has lost such a master. Not so long ago, Eremenko was one of the toughest midfielders in the championship, and his passes to the Swede and cut strikes were an ornament of every game in which he took part. Unfortunately, the coronavirus seriously affected Eremenko's condition - he tried as best he could to return to the previous level, but failed to do so.
“The hardest hit was with Eremenko. When you play against Rostov, you are always afraid of him. He hits without a swing at all - often you just don't see the moment of impact. You look, and in front of you it is as if a stone flies and wags. The trajectory is unpredictable, the ball seems to be dancing "
Alexander Maksimenko, Spartak goalkeeper
Eremenko has never had any claims either for dedication or for the amount of work. Possessing outstanding talent and technique, he never shied away from working in defense and pressure. The cocaine story blurred the overall impression of his career in Russia. But the fact that footballers of this caliber rarely visit the RPL is a medical fact. Goodbye, Roman, we will miss you.(The article uses data from InStat.)
