Kokemus valttina varsinkin pukukoppipelaajan roolissa.

;D  Strachanin toinen "big name signing" sunnuntaihin mennessä.

Miller set to leave United
24 Jul 2006

Liam Miller looks set to leave Manchester United with the club willing to listen to offers for the Irishman.

The 25-year-old has failed to establish himself at Old Trafford since arriving from Celtic in 2004.

The attacking midfielder struggled to break into Sir Alex Ferguson's first team plans and found himself frustrated on the sidelines.

Miller spent the second half of last season on loan at Leeds and helped them reach the play-off final only to lose to Watford.

The Republic of Ireland international has been informed he does not figure in Ferguson's plans and that they will let him leave for the right offer.

The player's agent Eamon McLoughlin confirmed United were willing to let Miller move on.

"I believe the manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that they will listen to offers for Liam," McLoughlin told skysports.com.

"He has been there for two years without getting much of a look in and I think Liam knows he must move on."

Sheffield United and Leeds have both been linked with Miller and McLoughlin admitted there has been some interest in the midfielder.

"There has been some interest in Liam, but we will wait and see what happens," added McLoughlin.

Nyt perkele jätkä takasi Parkheadille! Olis varmasti halvalla tulossa ja halukkuuttakin luulis löytyvän. Kaverihan lähti ManU:n leipiin kun Quinn kitsasteli palkassa ja ManU on herran junnuajan suosikkiseura. Loukkaantumiset pilasivat täysin yrityksen murtautua ManU:n avaukseen.

Che confirm Kluivert suitors
23 Jul 2006

Valencia have confirmed they have fielded a number of enquiries for peripheral striker Patrick Kluivert - with one reported to have come from Celtic manager Gordon Strachan.

Che coach Quique Sanchez Flores has already told the Dutch international that he does not figure in his long-term plans and is free to leave the club.

Kluivert still has a year remaining on his contract with the Mestalla outfit, the side he joined after leaving Newcastle, following an unproductive 12 months in the North East.

Hamburg appeared to be a possible destination until the Bundesliga club pulled the plug on a transfer they considered 'too big a risk', but Valencia's sporting director, Amedeo Carboni, is expecting further bids for the 29-year-old.

Recent speculation suggests Hoops manager Strachan, amongst others, is weighing up a move, although Carboni does not expect an immediate resolution to Kluivert's future.

"Several European clubs are interested in Kluivert but the situation is quite complicated," said Carboni.

Onhan se vähä CP... No, katellaan...

Espanyol reject Celtic overtures
24 Jul 2006

Espanyol have claimed that they have rejected an offer from Celtic for their talismanic captain Raul Tamudo.

Hoops chief Gordon Strachan is known to be in the market for a replacement for John Hartson and it would appear he has focused his sights on Spain and Tamudo.

The talented striker enjoyed a fine campaign last term that attracted the attention of several interested parties from overseas, with Blackburn also mooted as possible suitors.

However, it is Celtic who have struck first in any potential bidding war, with Espanyol having now issued their response to an offer thought to be in the region of €4 million (£2.7 million).

''The money was not much and today, Tamudo is untransferable for us,'' confirmed president Daniel Sanchez Llibre in Sport.

''Today we are not interested in the sale of Tamudo.''

Mandaric confident on Petrov

By Lewis Rutledge -  Created on 25 Jul 2006

Milan Mandaric is confident that Portsmouth can clinch the capture of Celtic midfielder Stilian Petrov within the next few days.

The Bulgarian caused a stir at Parkhead by signing a new four-year contract in January but then declaring his intention to leave.

Portsmouth and Fulham have both been linked with the 27-year-old, but two bids from Pompey have already been knocked back by the Scottish champions.

However, Petrov's days at Celtic now appear to be numbered, with Mandaric hinting that the two clubs were close to striking a deal.

"We are still in close contact with Celtic and are talking to them about Petrov," the Portsmouth chairman told the Scottish Daily Mail.

"I am very hopeful that we can conclude those talks over a few days and he'll come to us. Perhaps even by the weekend."

Celtic are standing firm on a valuation of £5 million, but Pompey have tremendous spending power and are prepared to pull out all the stops in their bid to sign Petrov.

"He's the guy that our manager Harry Redknapp really wants and I think we are getting closer now on the fee," said Mandaric.

"He is a good player and I totally understand Celtic's position on this.

"I respect their demands and their desires and I would be doing the same if I was them.

"But I am an optimist on these matters and we feel we will land Petrov."

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE PREVIEW

ABERDEEN

Once again, Jimmy Calderwood has had his hands tied when it comes to finding the finances to strengthen his squad.

The loss of Kevin McNaughton is a blow and Calderwood is yet to find a replacement for the full-back.

His signing of Karim Touzani could be an inspired one though. The Dutchman had been tipped for big things in the past until a bad injury.

The club's fans will be looking for a top-four finish, but they may have to settle for a place in the top six.

CELTIC

Gordon Strachan has continued the process of revamping the squad he inherited from Martin O'Neill over the course of the summer.

Winning a league and cup double while beginning that process last year was a phenomenal achievement and Strachan will hope his new buys gel quickly.

Jiri Jarosik should be a good addition to the squad, though the potential loss of Stilian Petrov is a concern.

Celtic can expect a sterner test from Hearts and Rangers this time around.

DUNDEE UNITED

Dundee United are fast becoming the SPL's greatest under-achievers, having finished ninth in the last two seasons.

Craig Brewster's arrival as manager did not pay immediate dividends and early-season results will have to improve to keep chairman Eddie Thompson happy.

Brewster has not been helped by a failure to get some big-earners off the books and the players he wants in.

Nonetheless, there is enough talent at Tannadice for a top-six finish to be a realistic possibility.

DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC

Dunfermline have been simply woeful over the last two seasons and are many people's relegation tips this year.

With the financial constraints at the club, Jim Leishman has done well to keep them up thus far.

A number of players have come and gone over the summer and the signings of Roddy McKenzie and Jim McIntyre will bring vital experience to the side.

It will almost certainly be another relegation scrap for the Pars and survival will be their main priority.

FALKIRK

Last season was a success for Falkirk in that they retained their SPL status after being promoted the year before.

The second season is often an even bigger challenge, though, and Falkirk are another club who are severely limited in terms of buying capability.

John Hughes will be hoping his side can emerge as a tougher nut to crack at home to help their survival cause.

The manager will again settle for staying in the SPL, knowing that anything more is a bonus.

HEARTS

Hearts were rarely out of the headlines last season, but they have seldom been on the back pages this summer, with little transfer activity at Tynecastle.

That may change if and when they qualify for the Champions League or the Uefa Cup, but they will surely invest before the transfer window closes.

They will be desperate to build on last season's superb success of second place in the league and a Scottish Cup win.

Owner Vladimir Romanov will be looking to take the next step to win the title.

HIBERNIAN

Hibernian suffered from the sale of Garry O'Connor to Lokomotiv Moscow last season and now they have lost strike partner Derek Riordan to Celtic.

Defender Gary Caldwell has also headed through to Glasgow, with Rob Jones from unfashionable Grimsby Town being Tony Mowbray's only summer capture so far.

Hibs' young squad have already suffered a disappointing Intertoto Cup exit.

And, although several excellent players remain, a top-six place may be the limit of their ambition this season.

INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE

Charlie Christie faces his first full season as manager of his beloved Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

He managed to maintain the momentum following the departure of Craig Brewster to ensure a seventh-place finish - their best in the SPL.

Christie has also been able rebuff Brewster's attempts to take players with him to Dundee United.

And the shrewd signing of John Rankin from Ross County gives Caley Thistle a chance of further progress.

KILMARNOCK

Kilmarnock's Jim Jefferies has spent another summer ensuring his club's toes are not scalded in the treacherous waters of the transfer market.

Jefferies lost Kris Boyd to Rangers in January and will still have to rely on his current strikers to compensate for the SPL's top scorer.

Defender Grant Murray, brought in from Partick Thistle, promoted from Division Two, is hardly a major signing.

And the hard-up club will again be doing well to finish in the top six.

MOTHERWELL

Maurice Malpas has at last been given the chance to manage in his own right and will be looking to continue the work of new Sydney boss Terry Butcher.

The former assistant has lost full-back Stevie Hammell, while Aussie striker Scott McDonald's transfer request hinted of some potential unrest.

But Malpas has held on to McDonald so far and capturing Ross McCormack from Rangers should produce more goals.

So his bosses will be expecting another mid-table finish at the very least.

RANGERS

Paul Le Guen begins his reign as Rangers manager knowing that the only way is up after the deposed champions finished third last season.

The Frenchman has been allowed more slack in the transfer market than predecessor Alex McLeish.

With Celtic losing experienced stars and Hearts standing still in terms of personnel, the opportunity is there for Rangers.

But much may depend on main creative force Dado Prso avoiding injury.

ST MIRREN

St Mirren return to the top flight knowing they face a tough fight to make it more than a fleeting visit.

Manager Gus MacPherson has not had the funds to substantially add to the side that romped away with the Division One title last season.

But promoted sides have traditionally been able to ride on the crest of euphoria to have a good first season.

And MacPherson may have to bank on that - and poor pre-season form by the likes of Dunfermline - to save his side.

All Square At Murray Park

By Emma Dodds

Dado Prso looked in fine form this afternoon as Rangers played their final match ahead of the big SPL kick off on Sunday.

Dado PrsoIn a game of two halves, Rangers dominated the first 45 minutes, but the visitors came back well after the break to level the match.

It marks the end of pre-season for the Ibrox club as their next match will be at Fir Park for the SPL opener.

Dado Prso and Nacho Novo were reunited in attack for the first time under Paul Le Guen this afternoon and they didn't disappoint, carving out the opener after eight minutes.

Lionel Letizi spotted Novo on his way down the left and the Spaniard sprinted to the corner flag before whipping in a fine cross for Prso to fire home with his second touch.

Minutes earlier young defender Antoine Ponroy tested Jussi Jaaskelainen with a header but the Finnish keeper just did enough to keep the effort out.

Bolton too sent out a full-strength side for the opening 45 minutes with Kevin Davies, El Hadji Diouf and Ricardo Vaz Te spearheading the frontline.Hamed Namouchi

But with 20 minutes gone the Light Blues sliced Allardyce's men apart again and should have doubled their lead.

Makhtar N'Diaye fed Novo, who did well to beat the offside trap and he raced into the box, rounded Jaaskelainen to fire goalbound, only for Abdoulaye Faye to slide in and divert for a corner.

It was another excellent move and at this stage Gers looked in complete control.

The visitors created a half chance when Kevin Nolan found space to meet Quinton Fortune's corner after 26 minutes, but his half-volley fizzed wide.

They then created another good opportunity, again from a flag kick and Hunt could only watch as Gavin Rae deflected his shot past the post in 34 minutes.

Paul Le Guen and Yves ColleuBoth sides shuffled their packs at half time but it was Bolton who started the brightest and in the 51st minute drew level through Kevin Davies.

The towering striker was perfectly positioned at the back post to meet El-Hadji Diouf's cross and McGregor was helpless to stop his shot.

Gavin Rae saved Gers after 67 minutes when he headed Diouf's shot off the line, before Gary Speed then sent an effort crashing off the bar.

RANGERS: Letizi (McGregor 45); Ponroy (Hutton 45), Svensson (Rodriguez 72), Pierre-Fanfan, Smith (Adam 45); Namouchi (Sionko58), Rae, Clement, N'Diaye (Hemdani 72); Prso (Boyd 58), Novo (Buffel 58)

Celtic make double move
27 Jul 2006

Celtic have made moves for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Anatolii Tymoschuk.

The Bhoys are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the SPL season following a disappointing pre-season campaign.

PSV Eindhoven striker Hesselink had looked on the brink of joining Porto as a replacement for Blackburn-bound Benni McCarthy.

However, Celtic are now looking to muscle their way in on the deal.

The player's father Jan Van Hesselink has confirmed talks with Celtic are due for Friday.

"We have a meeting with Celtic," said Van Hesselink.

"Both parties know what is on the table and I think it looks good.

"Personal terms will not be a problem and it is up to the clubs to agree on a fee."

Celtic will now hope to strike a deal with PSV, although Porto and their Dutch coach Co Adriaanse are unlikely to give up without a fight.

While talks with Hesselink continue - Celtic are also looking at Ukraine midfield dynamo Tymoschuk.

Shakhtar Donetsk have confirmed they have received an enquiry from the Scottish champions.

"Peter Lawwell [Celtic chief executive] called me," Donetsk general director Sergei Palkin told the Daily Record.

"It was an introductory call to express Celtic's interest in Tymoschuk, they have not yet made an offer.

"We are now waiting for them to send us an offer in writing.

"If we get an offer which meets a real valuation of our captain's worth, we will not stand in his way.

"I told Mr Lawwell about a previous offer from Feyenoord which was not acceptable and he now knows the price that would be acceptable to us.

"We are now waiting for Celtic to make an offer."

Vähä omia tuntemuksia mahollisista siirroista.

Tymoschuk on vittu PARAS! Kisojen kovin yllätys yksilötasolla oli kyseinen mies Ukrainan paidassa. Celtic Parkilla muutama kaus sitten esiintyi myös todella vahvasti kun Celtic voitti nihosesti Shakhtarin 1-0. Todella kova vahvistus olisi kyseessä.

v o Hesselink on osoittanut tasoaan vuosien ajan Hollannissa.

All in all, odotan varmistuksia enemmän kuin ikinä.
