Tuli tuossa mieleen, kun Whelan jaksaa kirkua tuosta Hammerssien sakosta, niin pitäisikö ottaa puheeksi Jewellin ja hänen junailemansa Andy Websterin siirto esiin. Websterhän oli ensimmäinen, joka käytti sumujen saarilla FIFA:n pykälää nro. 17 ja siirtyi ulkomaiseen seuraan viimeisellä kaudellaan. Voitaisiko tästä ottaa vähän mallia millaista tekopyhyyttä Whelan esittää ja laittaa pappa tulilinjalle? Voiko esim. pelaaja olla samanaikaisesti rekisteröityneenä kahteen maahan yhtäaikaa? Tutkinta päälle, niin saadaan Whelanillekin jotain seliteltävää!

Andy Webster has been cleared to make his debut for Wigan after Fifa gave the green light on his switch to the JJB Stadium.

The 24-year-old used a loophole in European employment law to leave Hearts at the end of last season, despite still being under contract for another year.

Wigan moved to bring Webster to England last month but had to wait for clarification from Fifa to select the player.

Fifa have now confirmed the deal, although a compensation package needs to be agreed at a later date.

Webster could now make his debut for the club against Portsmouth at the weekend and manager Paul Jewell is looking forward to having the Scotland international available for selection.

"I am relieved this issue is now almost resolved," said Jewell.

"It has taken many long hours of negotiation for Andrew to become a player at this club, but I'm convinced all the hard work will be worth it once the supporters see him play.

"He is a confident and committed defender who adds a huge amount of competition to the centre-back spots, which is extremely healthy for the club.

"It has been a difficult time for him as he's not had a full pre-season under his belt, spending a lot of the summer training on his own.

"But he has worked ever so hard in training, which is a tribute to his desire to feature as soon as possible."

Ja sitten tammikuulta, kun kundi siirtyi Rangersiin:

Andy Webster's future at Rangers is in doubt as Hearts have refused to authorise his registration.

Hearts have contacted the Scottish Football Association with their concerns about the loan of Webster from Wigan to Rangers.

Webster left Hearts under a cloud last summer after envoking article 17 of FIFA's regulations which permitted him to walk out 12 months before the end of a four-year contract, providing he moved to another country.

The Scottish international struggled to make an impact at Wigan and they allowed him to move on loan to Rangers last week.

However, the move has been thrown into doubt because Hearts still hold Webster's registration and the Tynecastle outfit claim the defender should not be allowed to join Rangers until his original contract with hearts expires.

The SFA have passed on the matter to Fifa who are set to make a final decision on whether or not Webster can play for Rangers this season.

The SFA confirmed: "We are unable to register Andy Webster for Rangers as he is already registered at Hearts. The matter has been passed to Fifa."

Rangers have been given clearance to wrap up the capture of Andy Webster.

Webster had made the decision to move on from Wigan after less than six months in the North West of England and The Gers stepped in with a loan offer.

The news of Webster's desire to move to Glasgow alerted his former club Hearts who claimed to still own his registration.

The wrangle had been referred to Fifa and following consultation with the game's governing body, The SFA rubber-stamped his move to Rangers.

"Scotland defender Andy Webster has been given permission to join Rangers, following a meeting of the Scottish FA board of directors today," read a statement on The SFA's website.

"The player was previously with Heart of Midlothian but left to join Wigan Athletic last summer. The unusual nature of the move prompted a referral to Fifa, who decided at that time that he should be given dispensation to play for the English club.

"However, his return to a Scottish club on loan this month brought up the scenario that he was still registered in Scotland with Heart of Midlothian pending the conclusion of arbitration by Fifa.

"The Scottish FA has taken further guidance from Fifa this week, the outcome being that the board decided today to cancel the player's registration with Heart of Midlothian, and to register him with the Scottish FA for Rangers with immediate effect."

Tais viimeyönä tulla enneuni sunnuntain matsista.. Wigan-Sheffield oli päättyny 3-2 ku Old Traffordilla pelattiin viimesiä minuutteja, paskat oli housuissa, ManU johti 1-0. Yliaikaa pelattu about 2min kun Noble saa pallon kolmessakympissä ja ottaa pari kosketusta ja vetää kaameen pommin ohi Van der Sarin.

Uni loppu siihe, kaamee vitutus päällä ku heräsin, luulin jo et oli totta.. No eiköhä Noble + co. ainakin sen tasurin hae !

Sir Alex Ferguson gave West Ham’s survival hopes a boost today by revealing Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the bench tomorrow.

But the Hammers’ drop-zone rivals Wigan and Sheffield United will be alarmed to learn United’s two leading scorers –?they have netted 23 goals each –?will not start at Old Trafford.

Ferguson is keen to rest their legs before next week’s FA Cup final showdown with Chelsea and said: “They will be involved – if not playing then they will be on the bench. But I will play a strong side.”

With injury-hit Louis Saha ruled out of his third FA Cup final for United with a knee problem, Ferguson wants to minimise the risks of Ronaldo and Rooney being injured, as well as trying to recharge their batteries after an arduous season.

Like Saha, Gary Neville is also facing Wembley heartbreak after Ferguson said he is not fit enough to face West Ham after a two-month lay-off with damaged ankle ligaments
Despite the absence from the starting line-up of his two young guns, Ferguson insists United’s display –?on the day they receive the Premiership trophy for a ninth time –?will stand up to the most intense scrutiny in a game where the Hammers need a point to be sure of safety.

Ferguson is a good friend of Alan Curbishley, but says there is no room for any sentiment as the integrity of the Premiership at stake.

“It’s not easy when you’re facing teams who are fighting for survival, but we will represent ourselves in the proper way and be fair to everyone,” he said.

We know the emotions involved for West Ham, Sheffield United and Wigan. We’re looking for a performance. We want to do well in our last league game of the season with 76,000 fans there to celebrate the title.”

Ferguson has a score to settle with West Ham, who denied his team the title in a 1-1 draw at Upton Park on the last day of the 1994-95 season.

Blackburn were crowned champions despite losing at Anfield and Ferguson added: “We expected West Ham to do that, just as we expected Liverpool to do their job by beating Blackburn. It tells you the English game is 100 per cent honest. Teams will always do their best and we will on Sunday.”

A bit more honest than the Carlos Tevez-Javier Mascherano deal that saw West Ham fined heavily but, controversially, not docked points that would have sealed their fate. Ferguson said he had been offered the pair last summer but declined “because the deal wasn’t right”.

He did not elaborate, but then accused “someone at the Premier League of telling porkies” as United answered accusations they had bent the rules to prevent former goalkeeper Tim Howard playing for Everton against them.

United gave Curbishley two first-class air tickets to New Zealand to mark his final game as Charlton boss on the last day of last season – then beat the Addicks 4-0.

This time the ‘present’ is a couple of pass-outs for Rooney and Ronaldo. But if United get the win that would set a new club record of 92 points in a 38-game season, Ferguson knows no accusing fingers can be pointed.
