Ilves's budget is in large part funded by people about to shove a load of money into TamU. They're a good feeder club, but they've already gone bankrupt twice before. Why would they be a better bet than TamU?

There are new people behind Ilves now. Some of those who are responsible for bankrupcy, are/was working in Tamu recently. Now Erola is running Ilves and Bavautdin running TamU, so i guess for the first time in ages both clubs are in good hands. Maybe we can end the circle of bankrupcies and fusions for good

Back then, the majority of Ilves board were tossers

Ilves was founded 1931 by Niilo Tammisalo. Niilo was former Finnish national football team goalkeeper and one of the pioneers in finnish goalkeeping. He founded Ilves as football club, but soon introduced ice-hockey and club started to participate in both sports, among few other sports aswell. Mr. Tammisalo loved both football and ice-hockey

Unfourtainly some others didn't. Ilves was more succesful in ice-hockey, and some people in Ilves board wanted to focus only in ice-hockey. They decided to stop patricipating other sports including football. Ilves remained as a youth club in football for decades. Tammisalo said that he was very disappointed for decision, but was sure that some day Ilves will be back in football. Tammisalo died in 1982 so he did see his dream come true, but didnt see Ilves winning title in 1983

The Ilves story is nice and all, but they have form for buying up the competition rather than building from scratch and that's pretty stupid. You take away Rangers you diminish Celtic, you remove United and Wednesday suffer too, if there was no Hammarby that would hurt AIK and Djurgården.

I think many Finnish football people don't understand that, and it's a problem.

If you talk about taking over KOO-VEE, that was the intrest of both parties

KOO-VEE is an amateur sports club who participate in numerous sports. But they dont participate football, never have i presume. They involved football because they wanted to save Tampere's spot in football divisions when Sorsapuiston Ilves folded, and they took over their spot in lower leagues. They carried on with the same team, but didnt have any youth teams at all. When KOO-VEE promoted to Kakkonen, they considered their options because they think it was too high level for amateur club. Eventually KOO-VEE decided to proceed

It was a weird situation when Finlands biggest youth club didn't have senior squad, and KOO-VEE playing in Kakkonen didnt have any youth team, any history in football and lacked will to run football team. So when Ilves took over, it was the wish of both parties

Back in 1974, Ilves took over Ilves-Kissat and TaPa who were heading to bankrupcy, to save Tampere's league spot. Just like TamU took over Ilves. Just like KOO-VEE took over Sorsapuiston Ilves. Thats the history of football in Tampere, clubs trying to save league spots left from other clubs who went to bankrupcy. I hope it wont happen ever again

Well, this is a problem really. 'Tampere' shouldn't think itself entitled to any league spots, and clubs shouldn't be able to buy and sell them. It's bizarre to think about things like that, but I guess this is the least corrupt country in the world with more match fixing scandals than anywhere in Western Europe, so I guess I'll have to get used to it.

Ei pidä paikkaansa. Jalkapallo kuului Tampereen Kilpa-Veljien ohjelmaan. 60-luvun lopulla TP-V ja TK-V (taisi niihin aikoihin muuttua nimi KOO-VEEksi) tekivät yhteistyön, jolla seurojen jalkapallotoiminnat menivät TPV:n alle ja jääkiekkotoiminnat KOO-VEEn.

Yksi syy lienee siinä, että yleisö on mennyt aina menestyksen perässä. Niinpä naapuriseuran menestys on ollut pois toisilta tässä suhteessa.

Dont forget that social motion in Finland after war, blue-collar society and clubs gain lot of suport and members.

"Ei se enää muualle lähde"-logiikan pohjalta voisi uskoa ja toivoa että Niemen jatko olisi sekin tulossa. Optimisti-tasolla on sitten Vilin ja/tai Rafinhan uudet TamU-sopimukset.
